Paul, the proprietor of the newspaper kiosk and cafe at Worcester Park Station has kindly agreed to sell a unique postcard, featuring the 1926 painting of Worcester Park, by Jack Ducker, with all profits from the postcard sales going to support a local charity.
These postcards were especially commissioned to raise charitable funds for our local hospice, St. Raphael's. With a kind donation from Waitrose Worcester Park towards the production costs, the cost of each card worked out at 33.6p. Selling for £1 each, the profit of exactly 66.4p per card will be entirely donated to St. Raphaels.
It's hoped that the postcards will prove popular with local residents, raising a worthwhile sum for St. Raphael's Hospice. Also, we hope they will shortly be available at other locations in the London Borough of Sutton.
The painting and the postcards are featured in an article written by Sophia Sleigh, in this week's (4th October 2012) Sutton Local Guardian [page 10].
I'm trying to find out more about JM Ducker. I have a painting that has been in my wife's family for many years. When I first looked up the artist, it's stated that he worked from 1910-forward. However, the painting we have has his signature on back with "1903". It also has a sticker from an auction on the back of the frame as well. If you'd like photos of my painting, let me know. ReplyDeleteMany thanks for you message. A painting clearly dated 1903, in the artist's own hand would certainly be a very interesting development! I have sent you an email asking for more details. Kind regards, Richard.
